The Asian Games men’s cricket qualification 2026 has been announced, featuring four associate Asian teams for the upcoming multi-sports activity in Japan. After a good run in the ongoing qualification tournament in Singapore, Nepal, Malaysia and Oman have secured their places.
The qualification event is a seven-team affair with just a few spots being available. The top two of each group qualified for the Asian Games men’s cricket tournament with the start from September 24 to October 3.
Nepal continued to perform consistently and led the Group A. They have been able to secure some convincing victories against Australia’s rivals like China and Malaysia in international T20 cricket, as part of their effort.
Malaysia also managed to qualify, even though there was a tough competition in the group stage. Malaysia were resilient and were able to beat some of the opposition in key games to make the final team cut.
Both Hong Kong and Oman have displayed discipline and control in Group B. Other teams were not quite as good as Hong Kong in critical moments thanks to their experience and structured game play. Oman, meanwhile, kept on their upward chart in associate cricket playing consistently throughout the qualifying round.
Nepal’s performance was remarkable, as they also appeared in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year which added to their international experience. They are qualified to enhance the competitiveness in Japan.
The tournament in Singapore is still underway, but this quartet of teams’ qualification situation has now been solidified. The final matches will determine the final standing and overall ranking, but the qualification of the nations for the Asian Games are set.
