England has unveiled its playing squad in T2OI one against Sri Lanka. The game will be held on January 30 and at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
So, Jofra Archer, a fast bowler, is included in the England squad again since he had missed the two previous Ashes Tests with a strain on his side. He did not even feature in the original T20 series. Archer becomes a member of a team when he is healed. Also, he will spearhead the seam-bowling assault together with Jamie Overton and Sam Curran. The spin choices are also available in England.
Will Jacks returns after injury, and Overton is in favor of Luke Wood and Brydon Carse. Ben Duckett is ruled out because of a bruise on the finger that he sustained during the third ODI. Plus, it has been over a year since Duckett last played T20s on behalf of England when England played the West Indies.
Jos Buttler will be opening in the batting order. This is his 401st England appearance and equals the record. Tom Banton will be the fourth to bat. Phil Salt also comes top of the order. The team will be headed by Harry Brook. The squad is filled with Jacob Bethell, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid.
Recently England won ODI series 2-1 over Sri Lanka. They would like to take that momentum into T20 series. The series will be a crucial warm-up to the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 which begins in India and Sri Lanka on February 7.
It is a big deal to fans to have Archer back in action. The next matches will depend on his pace and experience to England. Thus, the team will be dependent on an equal mix of batsmen and bowlers. There is youth and experience in the squad of England.
