Hong Kong Beat Oman by 41 Runs

In the Asian Games 2026 Group B match between Hong Kong and Oman on Friday, the hosts were able to bat sensibly and deliver an outstanding performance with the ball. The Hong Kong skipper Yasim Murtaza, who won the toss, chose to bat first and proved to be a smart decision as he had 121/8 in 20 overs. Hafeez Khan led the way with a judicious 33 from 37 deliveries, smashing three fours on the way.

Hafeez also shared a 51-run second-wicket stand with Babar Hayat who scored 23 of 25 runs. Ehsan Khan and Shiv Mathur added 16 and 12 on the other hand to help Hong Kong build a competitive total, respectively.Murtaza was the other who scored 18 while Ehsan Khan and Shiv Mathur netted 16 and 12 respectively to help Hong Kong build a competitive total.

Mohammed Al Balushi of Oman came up with the best bowling performance, taking three wickets in four overs. Shuaib Al Balushi, Nawed Al Balushi, Sameer Othman and Sufyan Mehmood each picked up one wicket.

The chase never got going as Oman (20) were dismissed on 80/6. Captain Sufyan Mehmood’s unbeaten 26 off 35 balls was the highlight of his bowling delivery by him, while he was not given much support.

Shuaib Al Balushi was the first to hit in the 20s with Abdul Jalil scoring 15 but the rest of the Oman innings failed to find a rhythm against the disciplined attack of Hong Kong.

Ayush Shukla was the outstanding bowler in the bowling division with 3/23, followed by a spell of 2/10 that was economical and came from Mohammad Ghazanfar in four overs. Nasrulla Rana then picked up one wicket. The win will help Hong Kong secure two points from two games in Group B and put them in second place. Oman are without a point and at the bottom with a net run rate of -2.050.
