India Recall Hardik For South Africa 2025

After a day, the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the 15-man squad of India in the upcoming T20I against South Africa and Hardik Pandya came back after over two months on the sidelines. The all rounder who has been away with an injury since the home season, has also returned to the squad providing India with a big boost before the five match series commences on December 9.

Also added as a vice-captain is Shubman Gill who has been ruled out due to an injury to the neck in the first Test at Kolkata. His availability will however depend on whether he is fit as approved by the Centre of Excellence of the BCCI. As a core part of T20I, Suryakumar Yadav will be the captain who will lead the team on a tour that is very demanding before India goes on whiteball plans in the long-term.

The changes in the previous T20I squad were only two as the selectors left off Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy. It was the only outing that Rinku had made a name in headlines, striking the winning runs in the Asia Cup final against Pakistan, in the two months since. He is not only playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but selectors are thought to be keeping a close eye on his fitness.

The series will go on between December 9, 11, 14, 17 and 19 with games held in Cuttack, New Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad. The announcement of the selection was made in the course of the second ODI in Raipur, in which India was leading in the series of ODIs 1–0. South Africa, on their part, won the previous two tests series 20, and this further intensified the series of T20Is.

India are also hopeful of combining both stability and power with the arrival of Hardik and the conditional entry of Gill to battle a confident South African team in what is likely to be a pivotal white-ball match.
