King Charles Meets Pakistan Cricket Team

The Pakistan cricket team were welcomed at Clarence House in London by King Charles in the run-up to their last Test against England, where they were joined by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and the team’s coaching staff.

A number of members of the squad attended the meeting such as captain Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Mohammad Abbas, Abdullah Shafique, Azan Awais, Sajid Khan and Mohammad Ali. Also in attendance were White-ball head coach Mike Hesson and Director High-Performance Centre Aaqib Javed.

The meeting fell at a crucial juncture for Pakistan, who are in a tricky situation in their three-match Test series against England. The away side are behind 2-0 with the last match to be played at Edgbaston in Birmingham from 9 to 13 September.

In the event, King Charles met with Pakistan’s squad and expressed his good wishes to them ahead of the last test in the series. Babar Azam also gave the king a signed cricket bat from the Pakistan cricket team. The British High Commissioner participated in the meeting along with the Pakistan cricket stakeholders.

The royal engagement was a highlight for the touring side with Pakistan hoping to cap off their campaign against England well and not suffer a series whitewash.

It is now Pakistan’s turn to focus on the final Test where they will have to bounce back from their two losses. The Edgbaston game is the final match of the tour for Babar and his side and will be a chance to put out the fire after a tough defeat to England. The team had a great evening with King Charles, where they were encouraged to go back to the action on the field of play.
