Mohsin Naqvi Meets Shaheen Afridi: What’s Speacial?

The meeting of Mohsin Naqvi Shaheen Afridi has triggered a new debate on the white-ball plans of Pakistan in the lead-up of an important international window. Sources indicate that the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) separately met with the captain of both ODI and T20I teams Shaheen Shah Afridi and all- rounder Salman Ali Agha.

The session between Mohsin Naqvi and Shaheen was related to the preparations of the next three-match ODI series against Bangladesh which is planned to be held between March 11 and 15. Strategic, balance, and tactical direction of the team were said to have been discussed. Pakistan are hoping to re-invent themselves following a rather patchy ICC season and rebuild faith in the 50 over format.

The sources also indicated that Salman Ali Agha discussed the performance of Pakistan in the ICC Men T20 World Cup 2026 in the course of his meeting with the chief of PCB. Pakistan had been beaten in the Super Eights elimination even after beginning with a roar. The campaign began with a close three wicket victory over the Netherlands. The very tide however turned against it following a massive defeat of 61 runs to arch-rivals India in the second match.

The premature departure brought up middle-order stability and execution of death bowling. It was also reported that talks were held about future planning and structural changes in the future before the next international fixtures.

In a bigger sense, such meetings portend to suggest that PCB leadership is approaching the issue in an aggressive manner. The board seems not to look forward to any other failure but to create clarity in the squad. During transitional stages, leadership communication is usually a critical one.
