Pakistan women vs Zimbabwe ODI started off on a strong footing by the home side as Pakistan posted a huge 168 run victory in the first match of the three matches series at the National Bank stadium.
Pakistan led the way by batting first and scoring a spectacular total of 330+ runs. The highest order demonstrated the intention in the beginning. Sadaf Shamas, Gull Feroza, and Sidra Amin were all playing half-centuries. They also formed partnerships that ensured that they had control of the innings early. Najiha Alvi has also made an up-and-down contribution to the total that is pushing the total to a difficult goal.
In reaction, Zimbabwe never knew peace in their pursuit. Although Beloved Biza contributed to the team with a fighting 53 and Kelis Ndhlovu with his constant 31, the batting lineup failed miserably. The necessary run rate continued to increase and wickets were lost periodically.
The bowling attack of Pakistan kept the reign all through the innings. Fatima Sana was in front of the pack with two wickets. Tasmia Rubab and Syeda Aroob Shah also took two wickets each which broke down the middle order of Zimbabwe early. Momina Riasat and Nashra Sandhu helped to maintain the pressure.
The victory provides Pakistan with an early lead in the series and shows the profundity in the bat and bowling departments. Another manifestation of the increasing regularity in the white-ball system of the team is also reflected in the performance.
Zimbabwe, however, will require a greater reply in the rest of the matches in case they wish to remain competitive in the series. The lack of consistency in their batting is one of the main concerns in the future.
