The injury of Parvez Hossain Emon has served another blow to Lahore Qalandars whose champions are losing a major batter until PSL 11. The franchise has confirmed that the Bangladeshi player is out of the game because of shoulder injury.
The injury took place in a match against Multan Sultans earlier this month on Parvez Hossain Emon. The accident was a result of a collision on the field with Asif Afridi which had raised alarm amongst the team management. After medical examinations, it was established that the injury would take a longer time than the tournament period to recover. This has prompted Lahore to take an early decision on whether the player will participate or not.
This is a bad omen to the Qalandars. The team has already experienced poor performances in PSL 11 especially in their batting unit. Their top and middle order is further undermined by the lack of Emon.
Although Emon was yet to have a major breakout performance, he provided flavor and versatility to the line. The loss of him now further strains the senior players to rise up during important games.
Short tournaments such as the PSL always have an issue with injuries. Teams typically do not have a sufficient amount of time to change combinations, and each member of the squad can be considered valuable. Lahore will now have to re-strategise and perhaps introduce an alternative to ensure that there is a balance.
In the case of Emon, he will be placed on recovery and rehabilitation. Losing the rest of the tournament is a loss but recovery is the most important.
As PSL 11 proceeds, Lahore Qalandars will be hoping to overcome this defeat and remain competitive regardless of the defeat.
