Three of its players are also being upgraded to the Platinum category by Islamabad United in the run up to the PSL 11 auction. The historic auction will take place on February 11 in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). This transfer boosts the team of United before this new season.
The team made the upgrades official in its official social media. Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Nawaz are the new Platinum players. They come in alongside some already established stars Shadab Khan, Naseem Shah, and Imad Wasim. Having added these players, Islamabad United has a total of six Platinum players.
Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz moved up through the Silver category. Sahibzada Farhan promoted Supplementary Silver to Platinum. These promotions are as a result of their good performances in the previous seasons. This is viewed by fans and analysts as a significant supporter of Islamabad United in the PSL 11.
Meanwhile, updates in other categories of players were announced by the PCB too. They have all been renewed to Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Emerging players. There are 73 national players in the six existing franchises. There are the most players in the Gold category, 33 of them, and Diamond, 11. Also, there are six Silver players of Multan Sultans, three of Lahore Qalandars, 2 of Islamabad United and 2 of Peshawar Zalmi, and one of Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators.
The next season of PSL 11 will increase the league to eight teams. New franchises will come in Hyderabad and Sialkot. The league will participate in a player auction rather than the draft that they normally have. The day will be February 11 when the teams will get to strengthen their squads. The Platinum upgrades of Islamabad United provide them with a competitive advantage over the auction.
