PSL Player Retention Deadline: When Are New Teams Retaining?

Pakistan Super League (PSL) has given the two new franchises a deadline within which to reveal their retained players. The existing teams do not have as much time as Hyderabad or Sialkot franchises. The deadline on their player retentions is February 6.

This makes them have an additional two days. The six current PSL franchises have to deliver their retentions till February 4. The PCB will also ensure that the new teams have sufficient time to complete their teams.

The historic PSL auction will be followed soon after. It is scheduled for February 11. Fans and analysts cannot wait to know the players the new franchises are retaining. It is anticipated that the retention list will determine the approach that the teams will use in the new season.

Did PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulate OZ Developers who purchased the Sialkot franchise. The decision to announce was made at the PSL auction in Islamabad on January 8. The chairman emphasized the need to allow new teams a reasonable opportunity to strategise their squads.

The retention policies are self-evident. Every team may retain a number of players prior to the auction. Retained players are not included in the pool of auction. They stick with their respective franchise. This regulation provides continuity and identity of teams.

These initial retentions will be essential to Hyderabad and Sialkot. They will establish the gist of the team. The new franchises are expected to maintain a combination of old players and new talent by the fans. Analysts are of the opinion that a firm should maintain a high domestic base of players in order to establish a team synergy.
