Rizwan NCCIA inquiry will move forward on Friday, with Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan confirming that he will appear before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Authority (NCCIA) on October 2.
A copy of his third letter to the agency, available with Geo News, indicated that Rizwan has received the notice and he will come to the inquiry as scheduled.
The Pakistan international, however, has also asked for clarity in the specific charges filed against him and the laws that are being looked at. The original complaint had detailed the various allegations pertaining to online betting and on-line gambling, and court proceedings had referred to an electronic fraud provision in the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, Rizwan said.
He said the new notice did not explicitly state betting or gambling, and requested that the NCCIA confirm if they did have those in the investigation.
Rizwan also asked the agency to specify the particular parts of the PECA 2016 that are relevant to his case. He requested that those changes in scope of the inquiry, if any, be communicated in writing since the scope of the inquiry had changed since the original notice.
The cricketer also wondered whether the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Unit or any other cricket body had been informed of the proceedings. He also asked the NCCIA about their contact or information with either organisation.
Also, in the letter, there is a big problem regarding Rizwan’s mobile phone which is in the agency’s hands. He gave it to me, said the password and it was opened and re-readed in my presence at my first appearance in England.
“He hasn’t gotten a seizure receipt, a warrant, custody record or a reason written that the phone is being held,” Rizwan said.
