Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan is optimistic about his team in the Asia Cup 2025 despite a six-wicket defeat in their second Super Four game against India.
Speaking to the media ahead of the next game against Sri Lanka, Farhan indicated that the team is now focused on returning with a hard hit in the next game and claiming a spot in the final to be held on September 28. He told reporters that he was sure they would meet with India in the final, implying that Pakistan had already shifted its attention to qualification.
Farhan had a significant influence on Sunday’s match, scoring a quick 58 out of 45. Then, his partnership with Fakhar Zaman propelled Pakistan to 93 for one within less than ten overs, but it slowed down later and ended at 171 for five. With a confident batting performance, India easily pursued the target to stay undefeated in the Super Four round.
When questioned about the celebration he gave when he was fifty years old, Farhan said he was not planning it. It was simply a reflex action. “Be I not fond of fifties, I do not think,” he said.
The competition between the two teams still offers drama. Abhishek Sharma of India complained about Pakistan’s behavior on the field, and Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha acknowledged that his team should tighten up its bowling strategy after India dominated the powerplay.
Bangladesh’s victory over Sri Lanka has left the Super Four race open, but Pakistan has realized that it must win over Sri Lanka to ensure that they are not eliminated from the race. Farhan emphasizes this, confidently predicting that the team can still achieve the rematch against India with the high stakes.
