Virat Kohli Confirms Final World Cup Mission

Kohli World Cup plans have been confirmed, with Virat Kohli revealing that the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be his final appearance at the tournament as he targets another title with India. The 37-year-old hitting hero made his announcement Saturday ahead of India’s three-match ODI series against West Indies that kicks off Sunday, which is part of the national side’s preparations for the 2027 showpiece.

“It is the final World Cup I’m going to play for India for me,” Kohli told media outlet JioStar.

The former India captain said that he has been given extra motivation with the one last World Cup as his top priority as the tournament looks like the ultimate goal.

That’s my drive – to leave everything out there,” Kohli said. The aim is quite clear – win the World Cup and all it takes.”

Kohli already has a World Cup winning medal to his name, having helped India clinch their 2011 World Cup in their home soil with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Now he’s hoping to complete his world cup career with another title.

The veteran is still one of the ODI cricket’s most prolific run-scorers with 54 centuries and 14,941 runs in the format. His experience will prove invaluable as India start to get ready for a tournament that will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in 2027. Kohli also noted the special conditions in a 50-over World Cup, pointing out that it is a different ballgame compared to the shorter T20 format.

The pressure of a 50 over World Cup is more than anything, he said, referring to the physical and mental rigours of maintaining a high level of performance over 10 matches, especially in abroad.
