Shaheen Afridi Pakistan captain reaction was the reaction of Pakistan who were defeated by Bangladesh by eight wickets in the first of three match series of the series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
This was a poor performance but Shaheen still supported his young players. The transition aspect of the team was in the fact that four debutants played in the match. The captain indicated that he would keep supporting the players and be adamant in instilling the confidence in the group.
The innings of Pakistan were not doing well initially and this was because the captain of Bangladesh, Mehidy Hasan Miraz decided to bowl first. Thus, the batting lineup did not create any partnership and ended up bowled out with 114 runs in 30.4 overs.
The best performance was given by Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana who scored five wickets. His violent outburst destroyed the batting order of Pakistan and foisted the hosts.
Faheem Ashraf was the best scorer in Pakistan with 37 runs, which offered some resistant in the late parts of the innings. Newcomers Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat chipped in with 27 and 18 respectfully and wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan scored 10.
With a small target of 115 runs, Bangladesh accomplished the mission easily. Batter Tanzid Hasan, in the lead, made a half-century without being defeated. The hosts had only two wickets lost and still had 209 balls left which highlighted their superiority in the match.
After the loss, Shaheen Afridi was not ready to lose sight of the big picture. Thus, the Pakistan captain stressed on patience. The encouragement of the new generation of players, particularly those who are making the first international appearance.
Having two games left in the series, Pakistan will strive to recover fast and give a better show in the remaining matches against Bangladesh.
