Islamabad United Dipendra Airee replacement PSL 11 has been officially established when the franchise has signed a significant change of the squad in the ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League 11. The current PSL champions declared that Nepal international Dipendra Singh Airee will be unable to play the rest of the matches because of national team duties.
It was announced on the official Instagram account of Islamabad united where the franchise announced that a Sri Lankan batter known as Pavan Rathnayake is joining the squad to replace Airee until the conclusion of the tournament.
The loss of Airee is a blow to the team, given his value across the board in terms of the squad balance. The management however acted promptly to get a replacement who can play in the middle order and offer a stable hand at the vital point of the competition.
Pavan Rathnayake is a young Sri Lankan batter who has a chance to present his talent in a big stage at the PSL. His arrival gives a new dent to the Islamabad United team which is looking at making a mark in the league table.
Islamabad United are one of the most successful franchises in the history of PSL and have always been characterised with astute squad management and adjustment on time. This substitution indicates their desire to be competitive even in the face of international call-ups that will influence team make-ups.
The fact that Airee left because of national duty points out to a common issue in franchise cricket, as an international schedule can easily conflict with league obligations. Teams must adapt quickly, especially in a tight tournament like PSL 11.
