The official list of 15 players in the camp of the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) to represent the country in the next ICC Men (T20) World Cup 2026 which will be held between February 7 and March 8 and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka has been announced. Zimbabwe is set to send its Chevrons to compete in a 20-team tournament but with star all-rounder Sikandar Raza as captain.
The team is mostly similar to the one which played in the T20I series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan last November, with one difference. Blessing Muzarabani; the fast bowler, has made a comeback into the team after having healed his back ailment. He takes the place of left-arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri who was brought as his temporary employer in the tri-series in Pakistan but never played.
Zimbabwe Cricket focused on the continuity as the important concept of the squad selection. The selection is characterized by continuity and the only newcomer in the squad since the triangular series of T20Is in Pakistan in November is fit-again fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani.
Muzarabani will set the pace attack of Zimbabwe in partnership with a left-arm seamer Richard Ngarava, and Bradley Evans and Tinotenda Maposa will be offering more depth and flexibility with seam-bowling. Analysts opine that the reentry of Muzarabani into the Zimbabwe team makes it strong in the tournament, not only in terms of experience, but also in terms of pace.
The Chevrons have slowly been gathering momentum in T20 format with some of their core players such as Sikandar Raza bringing about the all round stability. Having made minimal adjustments to the team, Zimbabwe seems to be targeting the factors of teamwork and friendliness before the world cup. The fans and the cricket pundits will be observing closely with the team preparing to play its group matches against some of the most powerful teams in world cricket.
The campaign of T20 world cup in Zimbabwe starts with great expectations and the combination of experience, pace and all round talent in the squad might come in handy as the competitive group stages are tackled.
